Onkyo Receiver Won’t Connect To Wifi

Ane of my devices (Onkyo receiver) tin can't connect to the cyberspace via a Netgear switch, simply the residue are fine

I just recently picked up a Netgear AC1900, and to put information technology in an optimal position for WiFi, I added a Netgear GS105 switch which all the "TV" things go through Onkyo, Raspberry Pi, XBox. The Raspberry Pi and XBox are completely hunky dory, and the Onkyo is accessible, and gets his settings via DHCP fine, but the Onkyo just won't play along.

If I connect the Onkyo directly to the router, without going through the switch, it works fine, wired, or wireless, but not if I become through the switch, despite the other guys working completely fine.

I've switched around all the wires, and ports on the switch, but nothing changed. No affair what configuration I tried, the Onkyo just can't connect to the net when information technology tries to go through the switch.

I've doing this for years and this is highly, highly unusual. My estimation is, get out information technology hooked upwardly to the router and call it a solar day. Is not similar y'all can configure anything on that unmanaged switch, or whatever parameter I can think so changing on the Onkyo that may make a divergence.

If Onkyo has an autonegotiate/x/100 setting, USE 100. That's the only thing I tin think of.

The router's the other side of the room, and I've merely one skinny cablevision which hooks the switch to the router (which is hidden at floor level), so it won't be wired to the router, simply wireless is fine now with the new router. Literally the only thing that we use on the Onkyo in this mode is Spotify, and the few buffering problems we were having seem to be all gone now.

I absolutely agree about the weird behaviour. I'm non a networking good, just I am in IT and have never seen something like this, especially given that it gets its settings properly from the router, and is perfectly accessible inward, and the others work fine, but it just tin't leave. Someone who reported a similar issue suggested that maybe the Onkyo considers the switch as the default gateway and somehow quits out at that bespeak, but I don't see how that's possible. After that came the mention of crossover cables... but again, I actually can't see that as in any fashion existence something at play here, especially later flipping around well-nigh all the cable configurations.

The GS105 is a layer-2 switch, information technology does not know annihilation IP or gateway, it only knows MAC. I blame on Onkyo'south NIC driver. Speaking of which, if there is a newer Onkyo firmware you can try. Only warning all software have bugs, I tend to not bear on unless am able to UNDO, that's just me.
