How Does Amazon Open My Garage
Are you lot comfortable allowing someone to open your garage? It isn’t creepy as you may call back.
Online shopping is expected to gear up records again this holiday season. With COVID cases going up again many people who rarely shop online will practice near of their Blackness Friday holiday shopping from their computers and smartphones. With so much online shopping and deliveries information technology will be open up season for porch pirates.
Yous can catch them ruby-red-handed on camera but judge what? Your packages are however gone. Packages would be safe if they’re never left outside. Enter, Amazon Central garage delivery. A new program where shoppers tin can have their items left inside their garage when they’re not home.
A garage door opener hub is needed.
To do that, you’ll need the correct garage door opener. The most pop smart garage door opener is the MyQ Smart Garage. It connects to your existing garage door opener so you lot can control that garage door through your phone. There’s a sensor y'all place on your garage door to find when it’s open and closed.
Y'all’ll also demand a security photographic camera that works with Amazon Key. I picked up a refurbished Ring photographic camera that was $50 on Amazon. The Amazon Key app is complimentary.
To check it out, I ordered two Amazon Fire Sticks and chose “in garage commitment” at checkout. On the day of the delivery, I received text messages with the gauge delivery time. Sometimes I’ve received updates from Amazon drivers when the commitment is a few stops away from my house. If that had been the case with this delivery I would have been able to see when the driver approached, I could open the door with the MyQ app and watched the driver drib off the parcel inside the garage and so close the door over again. That’s how information technology’south supposed to piece of work.
On the first delivery, the driver didn’t notify me that he was close and concluded up leaving the bundle on the porch considering the garage door was closed. I didn’t become a notification for the second delivery until the driver had arrived so he just handed me the parcel while I was setting up my camera.
Frustrated by now I ordered a mini-tripod from Amazon and again selected “Amazon Cardinal Garage Delivery”. I received an update through the Amazon Key app that information technology was to exist delivered between 11 AM and 3 PM. I didn’t become another update until the driver pulled upward in front of my house. This time though, the garage door opened, the commuter dropped off the packet and the door closed backside him. I was able to lookout man the delivery through the Ring photographic camera app. It all felt very safe and secure.
Amazon
says
it verifies that the package belongs to the accost and when the driver is near the door, they turn on “Deject Cam” and opens the door, place the packet inside, and requests once again to close the door. It worked flawlessly, except I never got a notification that the driver was hither only did get a notification that the delivery was made inside the garage.
Amazon Key is rolling out but is only available in some cipher codes and only available when the delivery is being made past Amazon and not the USPS or UPS. Amazon
Update: I’ve ordered several other items from Amazon and scheduled for Key commitment. It worked bully. The delivery driver walked downward my driveway with the packet. The door opened as they approached, the driver placed information technology on the flooring and the garage door immediately closed behind them. I did non receive a notification when the driver was close just did get confirmation when the delivery was made. I’ve also watched the deliveries using a Ring camera in my garage. I’ve spoken to a couple of those drivers and both told me it was new to them but wouldn’t take any more time than having to walk up a sidewalk and band a doorbell.
